Abortion Politics

Abortion—the act of murdering an unborn baby—is fundamentally a moral and spiritual issue. It has also become a political issue. I have heard some really dumb things proclaimed in the political arena, like "You can't legislate morality." Actually, you can. Murder, theft, and other moral breaches are illegal in most jurisdictions, as they should be. Another really stupid statement is "I'm personally opposed to abortion, but don't think it should be illegal." What? Is killing a human child before birth the moral equivalent of not bathing for a week before riding a bus, or what?

I have search the Scriptures for God's opinion on the subject of abortion, and it seems to be pretty clear to me. It is a sin to kill a baby in the womb just for reasons of convenience, avoiding embarassment, economics, and a host of other reasons people give for such an act. Search the Scriptures yourself, and see.

I am opposed to any politician who is not opposed to abortion, and I believe you should be, too. If a candidate for political office can't get this one moral issue right, what makes you think they can get anything else right? Why should they be trusted to lead us?

Am I a one-issue person? No, far from it. This one issue, however, is not negotiable. I look for leaders who value human life, especially the lives of innocent babies who have not been born, yet.
